How this works: we divide your amount by the coin's price at the start of the year you picked (January 1) to get the number of coins, then multiply by today's live price. Historical figures are approximate, for education and illustration only. Live prices from CoinGecko. Past performance does not predict future results, not financial advice.

This calculator lets you run the numbers for any year, instantly, with today's live price. It's a reminder of both the upside and the volatility: the same asset that soared has also seen brutal drawdowns of 70%+ along the way.

Questions

If-you-invested calculator FAQ

What would $1,000 in Bitcoin be worth today?

It depends on the year. $1,000 at the start of 2013 (~$13.30 per BTC) bought about 75 BTC; at the start of 2021 (~$29,374) it bought about 0.034 BTC. Enter your year above to see today's value with the live price.

How is the value calculated?

Amount ÷ start-of-year price = coins acquired. Coins × today's live price = value today. Profit = value today − amount. Multiple = value today ÷ amount.

Are the historical prices exact?

They reflect the approximate market price on January 1 of each year and are for illustration. Current values use live prices from CoinGecko. This is not financial advice.

Which coins are supported?

Bitcoin (from 2013) and Ethereum (from 2016) for now, the two most-searched coins for historical returns. More are being added.
